I can't possibly do Pastor Vance's message any justice, so please go to www.hopechurchonline.com and listen to it this week! I do know that as he guided us through a visual of where John was - on an island that he could walk the length and width of in a day - I could see all that John saw day after day - water. Water consumed his thoughts. Water was all he had to look at besides the ground beneath him and the sky above. As Pastor Vance shared, that sea represented separation - from his family, from his friends...from life. When God gave him a glimpse of Heaven, what consumed him on earth was the first thing he noticed missing in heaven.
Right there in service, my heart asked, "What will be the first thing you notice is missing when you get HOME to Heaven?"
This morning, that same question entered my thoughts, "What's the first thing you will notice?" Will I be overwhelmed at the amount of confidence flooding my heart and soul because I will notice all the insecurity is gone? Will I be flattened by the amount of courage overtaking my being because I will notice there is not an ounce of fear? Hmmm...
Saints, what surrounds you here on earth that might be the first thing you notice is missing when you get HOME to Heaven?
Father, help me to change what earthly things surround my heart and mind on this day! Let my heart be fixed on the right thing going forward so that when I come home, just like John, I notice things that will matter in eternity. Amen!
