Over the last couple of weeks, something profound has hit me and about knocked me off my feet, literally! It is something that has probably occurred to you before but I admit, I can be a little slow sometimes :).
Lately I keep hearing in my heart God’s remarkable promise, “I will never leave you nor forsake you...I will never leave you nor forsake you.” I don't want to just skip over the profound blessing of His voice encouraging me in such a way, for such a time as this - it actually causes me to tremble inside to have such Holiness whisper such a promise to someone like me. Each time, all I’ve been able to do as I hear His faithfulness and His love penetrate my soul is bow my head and say “Thank you, Lord!” It has taken my breath away as of late.
Yet, the One Man who was perfect in all His ways, the Lamb of God who gave His life for me and you, the very Righteous Son of God, cried out to His Father, “Why have you forsaken me?!”
Yeah, I know. If that just hit you like it hit me, you might be doubled over, or laying prostrate, or possibly about to pass out.
Here is what has blown me away - the God of the universe, Elohim (Creator), Jehovah Jireh (Provider), Adonay (Lord), El Shadday (God Almighty), El Elyon (God Most High) - has promised me, a broken, sinful mess of a human, that He would never leave me nor forsake me.
Jesus, who knew nothing but glory and majesty before He entered a sin-filled and dark world, just so He could experience the worst kind of death on a cross, so that I could have an intimate relationship with Him. Jesus experienced a moment of complete abandonment from His Holy Father, so that I wouldn’t have to???
I don’t even know what to say...
What do you say? What can you say?
If a God who first loved us before we loved Him, has promised to never leave or forsake us - a people who trip and fall over themselves all day every day, yet that is the very thing He did to His own Son - forsake Him for just a moment while He hung on a cross for no legitimate reason, what in the world do you think God will not do for you?!
LORD YOU ARE HOLY! YOU ARE HOLY AND WORTHY OF ALL THE PRAISE!
YOU LOVE US SO MUCH!
Walk strong...
Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Joshua 1:5: “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5: “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such thins as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
