  • Judah! Jacob's fourth son of twelve, of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
  • Judah! The one whose name means praise!
  • Judah! The brother who came up with the plan to sell his brother Joseph into slavery rather than kill him.
  • Judah! The name that means praise, yet he betrayed his own brother.
  • Judah! The one who tricked Tamar, his daughter-in-law, when he lied to her and never sent his youngest son to marry her, as he promised.
  • Judah! The one whose name means praise, yet he can't keep his word.
  • Judah! The one who then got tricked by Tamar when she lured him in, disguised as a prostitute. He slept with her and she became pregnant with one of his sons.
  • Judah! The one whose name means praise, yet he could not see deception because he was a deceiver himself.

Then Judah grew up and...

  • Judah! The one who, because he grew up and started to own his behavior, became the outspoken leader for his family when the famine hit, to save them.
  • Judah! The one whose name means praise and the one who became a repentant worshiper!
  • Judah! The one who stood before his brother begging for mercy and who, this time, was willing to die to save his other youngest brother.
  • Judah! Yes, the one whose name means praise and now will lay down his life for another.
  • Judah! The fourth son, the betrayer, the one who lied, the one who deceived, the one whom himself was deceived; then, the one who became repentant, begged for mercy and became willing to lay down his life...yes, Judah, the one whose name means praise!

JUDAH! The one whose family line our Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord, came through!

It's not about how good you are! It's about how good God is! He will take you as you are and HE will do the saving, the changing, the cleaning up of your heart!

When you are ready to give up hope on yourself or someone else, remember that God can work a complete change in even the most selfish personality (Life Application Bible Commentary)

GOD will never give up on you and he is BIGGER than any personality dysfunction you could ever bring him! You're hired!
